Jane Johnson, LCSW. RPT/S
Jane's education includes an M.S. in Child Development, Masters in Social Work, over 400 hours of continuing education in Play Therapy, and EMDR Level 2 training, plus training for EMDR with Children.
Her initial study and training for Play Therapy was in non-directive, and subsequently Experiential Play Therapy. Later, training and study expanded to include Structured Play Therapy techniques and then the Neurosequential Model of Play Therapy developed by Rick Gaskill, based on the work of Bruce Perry. Jane now takes a neurodevelopmental approach to assess and then integrate attachment, experiential and cognitive models of Play Therapy to create a developmentally sensitive approach to treatment.
Jane has been a Play Therapist for over 30 years and an RPT-S since 2001. As a member of APT for the past 20 years and a charter member of CAPT, she has enjoyed a wide variety of learning experiences and exposure to the most current research and practice approaches in Play Therapy. As a member of the Registration and Continuing Education Committee for APT, Jane was an active participant in updating both the RPT and RPT-S credential requirements.
